What's New in Pixx

The updates worth knowing about, newest first. Pixx is on iOS and Android, and every feature below is live in the current release.

  1. Version 1.111.1Latest

    • Book the table in one tap

Once your group picks a spot, reserve it on OpenTable, or on Yelp or Google when it isn't there, and mark it booked. Everyone sees the table is sorted and who booked it, so nobody is left wondering who is calling the restaurant.

    • Made for iPhone Duo, iPad and foldables

Unfold an iPhone Duo, or open Pixx on an iPad or a foldable, and the vote board sits right beside the map, the details or the chat, so the whole plan fits on one screen.

    • See who's talking

Group chats show everyone's photo, and each meal's chat carries the meal's name, so you always know which plan you're in.

    • Your location stays yours

Friends only see you on a meal's map when you've chosen to share, and travel times for anyone who hasn't are shown as rough ranges.

    • Better picks for mixed groups

Boards mix in other cuisines instead of filling up with one, and friends who haven't set their preferences yet are shown that way rather than guessed at.

    • Your setup checklist follows you

Dismiss a step on your phone and it stays dismissed on the web and your other devices. Plus a steadier app throughout, with fixes to sign-in, polls and group schedules.

    • Choose where Pixx opens

New accounts start on Meals, and you can pick your start screen in Settings. Your choice follows you to every device and to Pixx on the web.

    • Invites that say what they're for

Invites now name you, the meal and the time, so friends know exactly what they're saying yes to. A new account's first meal opens on Share a link.

    • Your meal stays in sync

The guest list, votes and banners update live as friends join and vote, and the option to finalize waits until someone besides you has voted.

    • Your privacy, your call

A Share my info for targeted ads switch and a Your Privacy Choices link are in Settings, and your choice applies everywhere you're signed in.

    • Fewer interruptions

We ask about notifications after you say yes to a meal instead of at launch, and invited friends reach their meal with a shorter first run.

    • Pick the setting, not just the food

Choose outdoor seating, a rooftop, the waterfront, a great view or a heated patio, plus the vibe you're after, so suggestions lean toward places that fit the night.

    • See why a place made the list

Each suggestion shows which of your picks it matched, so the group can spot the rooftop at a glance.

    • Maps that show up when you need them

The group's travel routes and the who's-coming map are back on finalized meals, and leave-by times show on your own clock.

    • Search that tells you more

Restaurant results show each place's street and distance, and Just Pixx For Me sticks to the max distance you set.

    • Chats that stay between you

Reactions and live chat updates are only visible to the people in the conversation.

    • Invite them again

If a friend said no to your meal and then changes their mind, you can invite them again right from the meal. Before this, a no was final unless you started a new plan.

    • Polls keep what you asked for

The budget, cuisines and dietary needs you pick for a poll now carry into the meal it becomes, so the group gets places that actually fit. Before this, a meal that came from a poll was searched with no preferences at all.

    • Hand off your group before you go

Leaving a group you run now passes it to someone else first, and skipping a week tells you which meal you're sitting out and asks before it does.

    • Fewer interruptions

You won't get a banner about the chat you're already reading, and the Feedback button shows a badge when we've answered you.

    • Your email stays yours

Other people no longer see your email address in friend lists or meal rosters. They see your name and photo, which is all they need to find you.

    • Every invitation has somewhere to be

An invitation someone sends you now appears in the app, and you answer it right there. Before this an invitation existed but had nowhere to be seen, so it was easy to miss one entirely.

    • Pixx asks how it actually went

When a plan never gets decided, or the group ends up somewhere other than the pick, Pixx asks where you went and why. You find the place by searching for it rather than typing the name out.

    • A way out of a surprise you don't want

Ask Pixx for a different spot, or hand the choice to the group to vote on. Before, the only way past a pick you didn't like was deleting the meal and starting over.

    • The board keeps up when the group changes

If people join or drop out after Pixx has found places, the coordinator is offered fresh options instead of a board quietly built for a group that no longer exists.

    • Groups can run more than one standing schedule

A group that eats on more than one rhythm now sees every schedule it runs, each with its own time, place and guest list. A second standing dinner is no longer invisible.

    • Meals that close their own vote

If your group set a deadline for picking a place, the vote now closes and locks in the winner when it arrives. When nobody has voted, Pixx leaves the board alone rather than choosing for you.

    • Something to watch while Pixx is looking

Food tumbles onto the screen while we're finding places, and it leans and slides as you tilt your phone.

    • A friends list worth opening

See who you're actually connected to, and unfriend or block someone straight from their profile.

    • Schedule polls that agree with themselves

Polls now say which dates they're asking about, and their counts match what's on screen. Meals that have already happened are read-only, and clearing your notifications takes one tap.

    • Group cover photos and a faster suggestion screen

Groups can carry a cover photo, suggestions arrive quicker, and we fixed problems in trip planning and profile stats.

    • Only places that are actually open when you're eating

Pixx now checks opening hours against your meal time before a restaurant reaches your list. A 6am breakfast stops coming back with places that don't unlock their doors until dinner, and early meals search cafes, bakeries and brunch spots rather than everything nearby.

    • See who each option works for, not just how it scores

Group meals now show whether a restaurant suits everyone coming, and name the person it doesn't work for when it doesn't. The hard part of group dining isn't finding somewhere good, it's finding somewhere that works for all of you, so we stopped burying that behind a number.

    • Your meal lands at the time you picked

A scheduling bug could shift a meal by several hours between choosing a time and seeing it on the board. It's fixed on every path that creates a meal.

    • Inviting people is easier to find

The friends screen now says what each option actually does, and if nobody you know is on Pixx yet it offers you an invite link instead of an empty list. Guests can still RSVP and vote in a browser without installing anything.

    • Start the plan first, pick the restaurant once everyone's in

Create a meal in seconds and share one link. Pixx now holds off on building the restaurant list until your friends have joined, so the options reflect who is actually coming and what they can eat.

    • Invite by link and by name at the same time

Pick the friends you want and still share a link for everyone else, from one control instead of two switches that disagreed with each other.

    • Watch the group fill up as it happens

The roster updates the moment someone joins or RSVPs, so you can see where the plan stands without refreshing or asking around.

    • Distance and travel time on the restaurant card

Every card now carries the address, how far away it is and how long it takes to get there. Opening the full details keeps you in the app instead of handing you off to a browser.

    • Your decided meal, all on one screen

Once your group settles on a restaurant, the place, the plan and what happens next sit together in one view instead of being spread across two screens.

    • Directions and a call button on the meal card

Open directions in your maps app in the travel mode you actually chose, or call the restaurant, without hunting for the address.

    • Book the table without leaving the app

When a restaurant takes reservations, the booking link now comes through with it, so nobody has to work out the last step alone.

    • A share card worth posting

The image you get when a meal is set has been rebuilt from scratch, so sharing where you are eating does not mean sending a screenshot.

    • Turn setup reminder emails off on their own

You can stop setup reminder emails in notification settings without silencing any of your other alerts.

    • Rate the places you already know

Swipe through nearby restaurants to say where you have been and how you felt about it, and your recommendations sharpen from the first few taps. Anything you mark as wanting to try lands on your Want to Try list without you saving it yourself.

    • Enough to judge somewhere you have never been

Tap the info button on any card for the address, rating, price and a link straight to the menu, photos and reviews, instead of deciding from one photo and a name.

    • Invite a friend with a QR code

The friends tab now carries a scannable code for adding someone sitting across the table. Share links can be capped to a set number of uses and regenerated whenever you want one back.

    • Know what is left to do

A Get Set Up card shows the parts of your profile you have not finished and takes you straight to the right field when you tap one. Invitations now recognise you, so you are never asked to accept something you already accepted.

    • Reminders that arrive when they are useful

A heads-up the day before and again a couple of hours out, a nudge when the group has gone quiet without deciding, and a prompt to say what you thought once the meal is over. Nothing lands in the middle of the night.

    • A guided setup that gets you to a good first suggestion

New accounts are walked through the few things that actually change what Pixx recommends: dietary needs, food preferences, and your first friend. The suggestions get noticeably better once it knows who it is picking for.

    • Tell Pixx where you have already eaten

Swipe through nearby restaurants to mark the ones you have been to and whether you liked them. It is the fastest way to teach Pixx your taste without filling in a form.

    • Reserve a table without leaving the plan

Once your group settles on somewhere, Pixx surfaces a booking link for restaurants that take reservations, so the person organising does not have to go hunting for one.

    • See how everyone is getting there

Compare driving, transit, walking and cycling times to a restaurant, with the sensible option for the distance marked. The group view shows how each person is arriving, not just how far away they are.

    • Describe the night out and let Pixx find it

Instead of setting filters, say what you are after in your own words, like "somewhere quiet for six with vegetarian options". Pixx reads it and searches accordingly.

    • Send a restaurant to Pixx from anywhere

Found somewhere on TikTok, Instagram or the web? Share it straight into Pixx and it is saved to your list, ready to suggest the next time your group is deciding.

    • Friends can RSVP without downloading the app

Invite anyone with a link. They can say whether they are coming and vote on where to eat from their browser, with no account and no install. The people who never download the app are usually the ones holding up the decision.

    • Planning a meal just for yourself

Solo dining is a first-class path, not an empty group. Pixx picks for one using the same preferences and dietary needs, without asking who else is coming.
